Malaysia imposes anti-dumping duties on steel concrete reinforcing bar from Singapore and Turkey

The Malaysian government has decided to impose final affirmative anti-dumping duties on steel concrete reinforcing bar imports from Singapore and Turkey after concluding its investigation on the matter. 

The anti-dumping duties imposed on Natsteel Holdings Pte Ltd were at 4.97 per cent while 17.65 per cent import duties were imposed on others.. As for Turkey, the duties imposed to Diler Iron and Steel Co Inc were at 3.62 per cent, 20.09 percent for others, while it was nil for ColakogluMetalurji AS.

MITI said the collection of anti-dumping duties from the alleged countries and the measure would be effective for five years, beginning Jan 22, 2020 until Jan 21, 2025 and added that the imposition of anti-dumping duties on imports of subject merchandise from the alleged countries is expected to address the issue of unfair trade practices.

According to the MITI, an investigation was conducted under the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 and Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Regulation 1994 after a petition was filed by the Malaysia Steel Association on behalf of the domestic producers.
