Mr Roland Junck to take charge of Liberty Steel’s European operations

As per the Sky News reports, Mr. Roland Junck will head Liberty Steel’s European operations. The former ArcelorMittal executive Mr. Junck, who chaired British Steel until shortly before its recent takeover by China’s Jingye Group, is being parachuted into Liberty Steel Group, the manufacturing group owned by Sanjeev Gupta.

The developments come at a time when the UK steel industry like others is facing questions about its future amid the coronavirus outbreak. Liberty Steel Group is a new entity formed to consolidate Mr. Gupta’s steel businesses around the world. The steelmaking arm employs 30,000 employees on four continents. The group has steelworks in Rotherham, Stocksbridge, Hartlepool, Newport, Clydesbridge and Dalzell in the UK.
