JSW Steel registers 6% growth YoY in crude steel production in Q4 of FY21

Indian Steel major JSW steel achieved crude steel production of 4.19 MT in Q4 of FY21 registering a growth of 6% YoY and 2% QoQ. The company had produced 3.97 MT in Q4 FY20. Production of Flat rolled products also increased 4% to 2.99 MT in Q4 FY21 as against 2.87 MT produced in Q4 FY20. Production of long rolled products were up 11% to 1.05 million tonnes in Q4 FY21 as against 0.95 million tonnes in Q4 FY20.

JSW average capacity utilisation improved to 93% for Q4 FY21 from 91% of Q3 FY21 and from 66% in Q1 FY 21. While the capacity utilisation during the month of March 2021 were at 96%.

However, crude steel production for FY 2020-21 was down by 6% YoY to 15.08 MT mainly due to disruption in production caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 in Q1 of FY 2020-21. The sales for the company for FY20-21 decreased 7% YoY to 14.08 million tonnes. The flat product sales in FY 2020-21 was 10.87 MT, down 4% YoY whereas the sale of the long product was 3.21 MT, down 14% YoY.
