Iron Ore

Steel is an interstitial alloy of iron and carbon(less than 2%). Iron ore is, therefore, essential for the production of steel. Average iron content for high-grade ores is 60% to 65%.The country’s iron ore production rose to a decade-high of 220 million tonnes (mt) in FY19, growing 9.5 per cent year on year.
