Nozzle Clogging in Stainless Steel

Nozzle clogging in stainless steel can be due to thermal clogs or clogs due to agglomeration and precipitation of indigenous inclusions. Although there can be many reason some of the few potential causes of clogging; however, there are three generic issues: thermal problems, either due to heat transfer to the nozzle or low super heat in steel

NMDC planning to execute allotment agreement of Tokisud North coal block on December 24

The Union Coal Ministry has allocated two coal blocks to iron ore mining company NMDC for commercial mining. These include the Rohne and Tokisud North under Section 5(1) of the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act 2015, located at the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. Both the blocks are located at an aerial distance of 10-15 km apart.

Nozzle clogging in Continuous Casting of Steel – Part 2

The rate of inclusion separation increases with the degree of turbulence inside the nozzle. Local eddy transport is responsible for the collision of inclusions with the nozzle wall and buildup. The regions of low flow are more susceptible to clogging. The centripetal force aids the movement of inclusions toward the nozzle wall as steel flows around an outside radius, such as a sharp entry point.

Nozzle clogging in Continuous Casting of Steel – Part 1

Nozzle clogging is a serious issue that can interfere with castability but also can substantially reduce productivity by lowering down the casting throughout and casting speed (meant to compensate for chocking), unplanned tundish change, early ladle change over and frequent nozzle change.

NMDC to supply iron ore to proposed steel plant in Kadapa district

The Andhra Pradesh Government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday with the state-run iron ore miner NMDC Ltd for the supply of iron ore to the proposed steel plant in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh for which the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be laying the foundation stone later this month.

Effect of slag on the working lining of tundish- Part 2

the penetrated slag will either dissolve the surrounding refractory components, making new “open channels” and leading to further penetration, or the slag ions penetrate separately and more deeply via diffusion processes. The dissolution of refractory components in the slag not only makes new “open channels” (e.g. by connecting some closed pores) but also changes the local slag composition, and thus the slag viscosity and surface tension.
