SAIL RSP supplies special steel for ISRO’s ‘Gaganayan’ Project

Steel Authority of India Ltd’s(SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has supplied 30.5 tonnes of maraging steel to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to be used in the upcoming 'Gaganyaan project, the first indigenous manned mission to space.

JSW Steel arm to sell 39% stake in JV firm Geo Steel for $23 mn

JSW Steel Ltd on Friday said its Netherlands-based subsidiary will offload 39 per cent stake in joint venture firm Geo Steel LLC for USD 23.08 million. JSW Steel (Netherlands) B V will sell the stake to the JV partner Georgian Steel Group Holdings Limited. JSW Steel (Netherlands) holds 49 per cent stake in the JV.

Indian Steel Market Has Bottomed Out : Seshagiri Rao, JSW Steel

JSW Joint Managing Director and Group CFO, Mr Seshagiri Rao while sharing his views with Business Line said that things have bottomed out. He said “We started the year with 8.8 per cent growth the previous year. The first quarter steel demand growth was 6.4 per cent, then it was 2.4 per cent and then in September it went into the negative territory. In October it became marginally positive and improved there on. The cumulative growth in first eight months of this fiscal was 3.56 per cent”.

Prevention Of Nozzle Clogging In The Continuous Casting Of Steel- Part 2

To prevent metal-slag interaction, baffles are used to slow down steel flow but allow steel to flow through the holes. Tundish fluxes are added as a covering compound that acts as a protective barrier between the steel and atmosphere thereby preventing exposure to the atmosphere and reoxidation of steel.

NMDC aims to make two recently allotted coal mines operational by next one year

State-owned mining major National Mineral Development Corporation( NMDC) is aiming to start commercial operations at the two coal blocks Rohne and Tokisud which was allotted last week in the next twelve months,a company official has said. Last week, the Ministry of Coal allotted Rohne and Tokishud North coal mines in the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand to NMDC.

CIL expecting to register healthy growth in December

The company had suffered losses due to flooding this monsoon in one of the company’s largest open pit mine at Dipka in Chhattisgarh. The cause of flooding on September 29 ,2019 is attributed to the change in the course of the rain- fed Lilagar river.The mine which has a production capacity of 30 million tonne a year, is expected to return to its full production in about a week.
