The meeting was chaired by the Steel Secretary Binoy Kumar, via video-conferencing, with the senior officials of SAIL, RINL, NMDC, MOIL, and KIOCL among others.

According to the sources, the steel PSU’s were asked about their preparedness at their plants and units in the wake of the outbreak of coronavirus and were asked to produce as usual and not to reduce production.

RINL has arranged for isolation wards with a quarantine facility. Offices and control pulpits are being sterilized and are provided with sanitizers. The staff in NMDC are offered work from home facilities. Larger gatherings are prohibited and thermal scanning is being done for non –company staff. Moreover, the offices are sanitized and special arrangements are made in their healthcare centers to take care of the virus.
